Till it Happens to you

Thank you Lady Gaga!

Lady Gaga,

Thank you for performing this song last night and bringing attention to the rape crisis. You are so inspiring, courageous and strong. Every time you sing this song I can’t help but cry. It is so true.

It also reminded me of a poem I once knew:

“When it happens to other people you say how sad, you say poor thing, but when it happens to you it’s different, it’s everything.”

I can’t remember where that came from but it is so very true. Rape changes you as a person. It effects your life in more ways then you could ever imagine.

I was first raped at age 12 and last rapped at age 18 but I still suffer the mental and physical pain of the abuses I experienced. Rapists get off every day while more and more men, women, and children are raped. Please please please pray for peace with me. Stop the violence. Stop the rapes once and for all.

  Till it happens to you

What’s cooking

Chicken Dinner Dominique Baked Chicken with mashed potatoes and vegetables.

What you will need::

1 Organic Chicken

Olive Oil

A Lemon

An Onion

Fresh Garlic

2-3 cups of chopped veggies I use carrots, squash, and zucchini
Chicken Seasoning: I use a mixture and it’s a little different each time a pinch of this and a pinch of that. Something along the lines of::

1 tbs salt

1 tsp pepper

1 tsp turmeric

1 tsp cumin

1 tsp oregano

A pinch of cayenne pepper

A pinch of basil

Or more…probably more because I like things really spicy. If it smells kinda like baked chicken seasoning then you have a good mixture. You may also just buy premixed poultry seasoning and use 1-4 tbs depending on tastes
Step 1 preheat your oven to 350 degrees.

Step 2 cover a baking sheet in aluminum foil.

Step 3 rinse off your chicken with water and pat dry.

Step 4 rub seasoning all over your chicken, don’t forget inside the chicken! I start on the back, then do the inside, then I rub some up under the skin on the breast and also sprinkle on top. Often I will crack some extra fresh black pepper and garlic onto the top. You could also add Parmesan cheese if you wanted to.

Step five place veggies around chicken

Step six drizzle with olive oil

Step seven slice lemons in half. Squeeze juice onto chicken then shove lemons into chicken cavity.

Step 8 quarter onion and fill remaining space in cavity, place onion on chicken.

Step 9 add fresh garlic

Step 10 cover in foil

Chicken just before cooking.

Bake in the oven until done. ~3 hours

Teaching Children

Today’s lesson was held February 29th, 2016 by The Gathering Assembly @ the Landing in Renton Washington
I had a class of 5 children of mixed ages. All of the children where engaged and interested in drawing. So we started just with free drawing. The girls drew themselves and each other in dresses quietly. The little boy drew a sun and a moon. I helped him write out “God is good every day. God is good every night.”
Then I had each child write down their prayers on their weekly prayer sheets. They mostly wanted to pray for their schools and safety. Please help our children by praying with them!  Our main lesson today was “God is Good.”
The Pastor’s main message was “God doesn’t want us to sin.”

The older children received both messages.

I drew this sheet up to photocopy for next week to as a review of what we talked about today!

Moving to California

From the very first time I visited California as a girl I have always wanted to live there. My dear husband was born in Redwood City and thinks San Francisco is the best city in the world. So when we had the opportunity to move we just had to go!      I am so excited. I feel as is God has some big plans for us. He has really been leading our steps. He spoke to us and told us to just do it! So “Here we go!”

California here I come!

My first blog post

So it’s been a while since I had a blog. I stopped using social media and went through a very private period in my life. Recently I’ve started using it again. I’m trying to think more like my sister, Wyatt, “What do you care what other people think about you?” Really it doesn’t matter all that much. We all have opinions.

When thinking about what my blog would be about I decided to choose something that I can talk a lot about. Myself. I am an expert on myself and without trying to sound too vain, I think I am fairly interesting. Either way even if no one reads my blog except myself then it can be like a journal of sorts. My blog will be an online journal of crazy, interesting or entertaining things in my life and about me.

I am Dominique Elizabeth Barrentine. The one and only I am certain.
