DOMENECH, Anna Conner and Company: Motion Activated Art

I first saw a few paintings on Facebook by DOMENECH after she had her work featured in a gallery called New Tomorrow on Capitol Hill in Seattle. As I set out to write a blog post on her I quickly realized what a phenomenal artist she truly is. Her paintings are deeply moving and come from an inspired place. In sculpting and performance art I find her work both mildly disturbing and genius at the same time. The motion in her artwork travels from her work in dance, through her sculpting and into paintings encompassing all different mediums.

It is my pleasure to introduce Anna Conner and Company, a dance and artistic movement group from Seattle Washington. I have yet to have the pleasure of seeing them in person however their WordPress has videos of their work. You can also access these videos on the groups Vimeo
“Exercises for the unrested: The Kingmaker”

Was preformed on October 9th, 2015 in Seattle WA at the Velocity Dance Center Founders Theater. The creator of the piece Anna Conner describes it as, “A meditative quintet teetering on the edge of chaos…plays with the idea of dynamic balance and the instability of human connection after traumatic experiences.”

“We create art that is honest, intimate, and speaks to the human psyche. We do this while striving to guide and empower the audience through an artistic yet sometimes unpleasant journey. The goal is to arrive at the deeper awareness of ourselves and the world that surrounds us. As performers are tools are our bodies, our movement is beautiful and our power lies in taking risks.”

I have recently been inspired by this artist. Her profound use of abstract shapes and motions come through even in still photography. When watching her videos I am startled by the deeply moving emotional movements. I love how she portrays connection is these complicated movement pieces…

I love these amazing photographs. Thank you Anna, for allowing me to use them and to write about you and your creative endeavors with your friends.
Just look at the raw human emotion and beauty shown in these two photographs of the artist herself.

TODAY DOMENECH DYNAMIC ARTIST, SCULPTOR, PART II

This is Anna Conner, painter, sculptor, and movement artist. Yesterday on that crazy life I highlighted her remarkable skill as a painter. Today I want to give you a glimpse of her work as a sculptor. I didn’t feel like I could cover her variety of talents in one blog post so three parts it is! I am falling in love with the original, brilliant, and multifaceted artistic renditions of DOMENECH.

Entitled, “The Kingmaker” these three photographs show parts of a larger installment. With ideas as unique as hair sculpture I can see DOMENECH going to unknown places with her sculpting. I love the attention to detail that went into this sculpted artistic experience.

To quote the artist “There is so much turmoil that we go through in life so shedding away our hair and turning it into something beautiful is what I’m going for” -DOMENECH Aka Anna Conner

In this photograph you can see an even larger hair sculpture! This piece seems like the oversized version of the smaller “hair nests” I noticed around the room in other parts. Simply astonishing this piece reminds me of a nest but from the corner of my eye in the preifereal vision I almost see an oversized tarantula spider. Yuck but still cool huh? I love the composition of the piece with a model posing among her sculptures.

The final piece of Anna Conner’s sculpture I wish to share it this… Cinder blocks with hair nests… Very peculiar but interesting in its own right.
That concludes part 2 of my three part blog post on artist DOMENECH aka Anna Conner. For more information on her art check out her WordPress Blog IAMDOMENECH,  Facebook, and feel free to email her directly at domenechpaintings@gmail.com

TODAY Presenting Unique Seattle Artist DOMENECH

Recently my husband and I stumbled upon this inspiring painter and sculptor quite by accident on Facebook; her name is DOMENECH. Actually her name is Anna Conner but she paints under her maiden name, DOMENECH.

Looking over her blog IAMDOMENECH BLOG. I am amazed by the variety of abstract colorful canvases displayed on her site. She is such a prolific artist useing a wide variety of styles. Such a rainbow, I love these!

Some are more simple while others are busy with action. My husband complimented the motion within each piece.

I love the contrast between her more colorful vs. monotone or monochromatic pieces.

These are from her “Broken Buildings,” series that was shown recently at New Tomorrow a gallery on Capitol Hill in Seattle Washington.

This one reminds me of the surface of the moon. I love the classic timeless beauty of black-and-white Art.
Wow the textures in this painting are so cool. Again I love her use of contrast. I feel as if I am looking at the surface of the moon.

I enjoy viewing this painting because it seems to me that there are figures posing for a portrait in the messy life like layers. Many of her paintings contain figures or the impression of beings in them.

The contrast and texture of the paint on canvas gives the eye plenty to draw you in. Some of her paintings incorporate bits of fabric. I love painters who lay the paint on think creating depth and dimension. Abstract paintings have always been my art form of choice. DOMENECH has quickly joined the ranks mf my favorite abstract artists. I could look at her artwork all day.

I find these unique paintings to be of masterpiece quality. The use of color and technique are brilliant. Every one of her paintings is inspiring to me.

I want to thank the artist, Anna Conner aka DOMENECH, for this sneak peek into your amazing artistic mind. For anyone wanting to contact the artist E-mail is domenechpaintings@gmail.com

As I delve deeper into her extensive collection of work I realize I will have to write more on her as an artist. So consider this part 1 of 3 on the artist known as DOMENECH.

This part one covers just a small amount of her paintings to see more I encourage you to check out her Facebook as well.

Part two I will share with you her sculpture. Finally in part three of this series showcasing this multi faceted artist, I will close with a highlight of her performance, movement art. Thank you for reading. I hope you enjoyed this Artist highlight.
